it’s in their blood: the floss between your toes.

When I was in New York last month I was overheard by a fat Texan dude saying “I want to try a Budweiser.” For obvious reasons the porker was totally blown away by my statement leading to a long, beer soaked conversation full of ‘where are y’all froms’ and ‘what are y’all doing heres’.

After explaining that my friend and I were Australian’s and doing about five Paul Hogan ‘that’s not a knife’ impressions (not by choice I swear) we all started to discuss how something could be so natural in one country, ie cracking open a Bud after a long hard day, but barely known in another.

This thought process stuck with me long after I left NYC with a heavy heart a few weeks ago & has caused me to delve further into the idea of what makes a country a country? So whilst looking left and looking right, I am going to doodle my observations here in the hopes of a miraculous discovery.

Let’s start with an obvious one shall we? Ease us in….
