black arts.
Anyone care to accompany me this weekend as I check out Mark Whalen aka Kill Pixie’s solo exhibition White Out? Yes? Fantastic. It’s on at the Madman Void in Collingwood from 1 – 17 April. Thank you Black Art Projects, thank you.
eat at: colonel tans.
Colonel Tans is officially my new favourite restaurant. Ew, you like Revolver? Frig no. I said Colonel Tans man. It’s what the junkie heaven batcave transforms into during the week, an amazing little Thai food palace if you will.
Filled to the brim with trendos indie kids wearing felt fedoras and flanny shirts, it’s a total babe fest. Perfect for someone like me who prefers guys who are more likely to steal your wallet than your heart.
ponyfish island.
Headed into the city for a lovely birthday dinner last night & thought I’d finally check out the much hyped pop-up bar Ponyfish Island. You know, the one under the bridge on the Yarra? It’s totally worth a visit, even if the Yarra does get browner the closer you get to water level.

week end.
Ya huh, that time again! Amazing. (Ever noticed how often I say amazing? Well, now you will & it will probs bug you to no end. Not amazing.) I’m off to get buzzed with my little scallywag of a brother as we celebrate his 21st. Hey Mitch guess what? I’ve invited all my friends! Mum & Dad are coming! I’m going to get drunk & tell embarrassing tales to all the young babes that are there! Say it with me now, ahhhhh-mazing.
Also on the agenda for my jammy packed weekend is some serious roommate bonding, a Camberwell market stall (come buy things!) and a pretty standard bike/ beer sitcho somewhere in St Kilda on Sunday. On Monday let’s all reflect on the wonder that is a long weekend and get ready for a super short week.
Amazing.
the selby is in your place.
Talk about Debbie Disappointment…. The Selby, one of my all time favourite bloggers/ artists/ visionaries is in Melbourne this weekend and I’m not around to see him. Rats.
Yep as part of his The Selby Is In Your Place promotional trail, you can go meet the man behind the magic Todd Selby from 5 – 7pm at The Compound Interest (5 Keele Street, Collingwood) this Saturday the 5th of March.
Buy the book, get it signed, touch him for me, whatever feels right…..
Three Thousand also scored a little Q & A with him, click here to read it.
sonido!
Have you ever had breakfast Colombian style? Okay smart pants, I have travelled too….. Just not to South America, so give a girl a break. But the good news is Melburnians no longer have to jet-set across the pond to feast on arepas and empanadas, because Sonido! on Gertrude street is dishing out the real deal daily and it’s mother effing good.
I went there for the first time on Saturday with Colombia. Yep my colombian mistress took me out for colombian. Very fitting. I made her order my food because a) she sounded sexy and b) I sounded ridiculous. And seriously, who knew corn bread and beef could be so acceptable before 11am?
Bright colours, salsa music and total babes behind the coffee machine round out the experience and leave you less hung over and less grumpy. For menu details and contact info click here.

after.
You all read The Design Files right? If you don’t, you should. But don’t just jump online without some direction holmes, start here with the write up on my wonderful friend Phoebe Munro & her equally wonderful store After.
Easily the coolest shop I have ever been into, P-Money has decked this brick palace out with incredible bit & bobs from South America, Me-hi-co and beyond.
Located at 99 Therry Street (just across from the VIC Markets), this is a true Melbourne treasure & I strongly urge you to lace up your chucks & get there pronto.
big day out.

top five.
1. The return of Glee. I have been debating admitting that I love Glee for some time now… Cabana boy insists you guys will understand but a large part of me believes I just lost a punt load of street cred. True? Either way my friends, I am a red-hot Gleek . Monday nights at our place go OFF with show tunes and over rehearsed dance routines.
2. My new Neil Diamond – Greatest Hits vinyl. Darling Ballerina totally hooked a sister up with a gift from Camberwell Markets this morning. Gotta love any new addition to my fast-growing record collection. FYI Bushy eyebrows have never looked so good.
3. Water. Yes you heard me, water. After sticking it out in the sweltering 40 degree heat yesterday at Big Day Out I am rehydrating, and then hydrating again. God dammit it was hot, but LCD Soundsystem single-handedly made the sweat bath worth it. They were in-sane.
4. Yellowbird in Windsor. Nothing new, have been going there for years but lately they have been better than ever. Why? Can’t really tell you. But they have been playing a lot of Beck and Pixie’s lately so that can’t hurt.
5. My darling heart best friend love of my life is returning home from a nine month trek around the world (selfish). Can’t wait. Seriously, hurry up Saturday.
